Never done it but can you install the program when in Safe mode?Īlso try disabling the startup of all things that don't look sensible or necessary to be there, CCleaner can do that. never had a hiccup now for many years.Īnyone else solve this short of replacing my pc? When I buy a new PC the first thing is to deinstall the supplied trial Nortons and whatever and instead use the free version of Avira for anti-virus, and the free version of CCleaner for deleting rubbish and registry cleanups. I have use of 5 or 6 notebooks and desktops in my collection of stuff some old some new but all now running Win10 and never a problem like that. My uneducated theory is that some other software may be interfering. Oly tech support was not helpful."just uninstall/re-install". Could be due to the same overall issue.but I'm thoroughly out of ideas. Have also found the Camera Updater, latest version, always fails to connect to server when attempting firmware updates. That got it off my installed progs list.but running installer again failed at same point (runtime error). Went thru regedit to remove all keys to Olympus. Then saw OV3 sitting in my installed progs with an install date from 2013.but it would not un-install. I'm having the Viewer install failure on a Windows10 pc. I ended up using Online Armor and have no conflicts with Kaspersky. I would probably recommend to do this with your internet disconnected if this involves your firewall.
Check to see that all real time security is turned off. I got rid of Comodo and retried the OV3 install and that went just like it should have from the start. Apparently I had forgotten that there was some additional security features in Comodo. I was just in the middle of changing AV to Kaspersky and got a message from that install that there was a conflict between Kaspersky and my firewall.Comodo. At any rate, I disabled AV with the same results. can anyone honestly remember the last time they saw this recommended?.somewhere back in Win95 maybe. Had read about making sure that antivirus was inactivated during install. Was on the phone 3 times with Oly tech support.who honestly tried to help. Kept trying to install OV3 on a WinXp machine. The uninstall process just stops without any error message at all. To make matters worse, I cannot even uninstall Olympus Viewer 2. It was a good suggestion, but unfortunately this did not solve the problem. I have done all the Windows updates, including the optional updates. Have you done all Windows updates? The automatic ones just cover some things, you need to often do all the optional ones as well, maybe there's something that may help. Win7 and Win8 running OV2 and OV3 like a charm. I am running Windows 7 and all my other software works fine. but the installation fails.ĭuring installation, I get a message: "Installation operation failed. I have been trying to get around this by installing Olympus Viewer 3. Prior to its untimely death, it was working fine. Olympus Viewer 2 has recently died on my PC.
